ARLINGTON, Texas – Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic alumni are set to compete once again for the Vince Lombardi Trophy with 11 former standouts projected to be on the active rosters of both teams for Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
Kickoff on Sunday, Feb. 8 is set for 5:30 p.m. CT on NBC and Peacock.
The Seattle Seahawks lead the way with seven Cotton Bowl Classic alums currently on their active roster, while the New England Patriots boast four Classic alums. Southern California has the most Classic alums in this year's National Football League championship game with three.
Former USC star Sam Darnold went 26-of-45 for 356 yards and an interception in the Trojans' 82nd Classic loss to Ohio State. Also playing for the Trojans in the same game, Brandon Pili appeared and Uchenna Nwosu recorded four tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. Thayer Munford Jr. saw time on the offensive line for the victorious Buckeyes in this same Classic.
Oklahoma's Rhamondre Stevenson earned the J. Curtis Sanford Trophy as the Offensive Most Valuable Player in the 85th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. He ran for a career-high 186 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown. His performance highlighted a potent Sooner offense that amassed a Cotton Bowl record 684 total yards of total offense.
Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson played in two Classics – 72 rushing yards on 19 carries in the 88th Classic and scored on a 75-yard receiving touchdown with 42 rushing yards on six carries in the 89th Classic.
