ARLINGTON, Texas – Black History Month is a time to reflect on the events of yesterday that have led us to today and guide us towards a path for tomorrow. February calls on us to learn from history and come to know those important individuals and events that led to significant change in the fight for civil rights. This is the story of how one of North Texas' most significant annual events, the Cotton Bowl Classic, played a role in the history of racial equality in sports, our community and beyond.
