ARLINGTON, Texas – The Cotton Bowl Athletic Association announced today the additions of Makyle Sanders and John Womack to the staff as CBAA Fred McClure Interns for the 2023-24 season. Both officially joined the CBAA staff on Sept. 5.

Sanders and Womack become the fourth and fifth individuals to garner the title of CBAA Fred McClure Intern. In 2021, the CBAA revived and renamed its internship program in honor of Fred McClure, the first African American to serve as CBAA Chair and the first person to serve two terms (1998-2002) in that role.

In their roles on the CBAA staff, Sanders and Womack support the day-to-day operations of the CBAA office and assist with operational aspects of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, including event management, game operations, ancillary events, ticketing, hospitality and pageantry, Cotton Bowl Foundation and community service events and initiatives and the regular-season college football games played at AT&T Stadium.

"We're truly excited to have Makyle and John join our Cotton Bowl family," said CBAA President/Chief Executive Officer Rick Baker. "Their enthusiasm and willingness to learn and grow will bring great energy and fresh perspectives to everything we do leading up to this year's Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic."

Sanders was a five-year standout on the football team at the University of North Texas. During his senior season in 2021, he recorded 44 tackles with two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, an interception and four pass breakups in 12 starts at safety. The 2020 honorable mention All-Conference USA selection totaled 172 tackles (103 solo) and four interceptions with 30 starts in 57 career games for the Mean Green. Sanders earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from North Texas in 2021 and is currently completing his Master of Business Administration degree in Business Administration and Management from UNT. The Tyler, Texas, native spent time at Northwestern Mutual and Enterprise Car Rental before joining the CBAA staff.

Womack joins the CBAA staff following internships in the Samford University athletics department, assisting with projects in the ticketing and marketing offices, and Auburn University athletics department, working in compliance and event operations. He also spent a stint with the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, assisting with the day-to-day operations of the office and providing content for social media. The Birmingham, Ala., native graduated from Auburn with his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 2023 and is currently working on a Master of Science degree in Sport Management via the University of Florida's online program.
