ARLINGTON, Texas – The No. 9 Missouri Tigers and No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes are set to meet in a Top-10 matchup in the 88th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Friday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN and ESPN Radio.

This matchup marks the 12th all-time meeting between Ohio State and Missouri and the first since the Buckeyes defeated Mizzou 35-14 in the 1998 regular season. The Buckeyes are 10-1-1 all-time against the Tigers. The two programs have never met in a bowl game.

Ohio State (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten Conference) is making its third Cotton Bowl Classic appearance. The Buckeyes defeated Southern California 24-7 in the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in 2017. Ohio State's only other Classic appearance came in 1987 in a 28-12 win over Texas A&M. The Buckeyes are making their 55th bowl appearance and played in last year's College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, falling to Georgia, 42-41. The Buckeyes' only loss this year came in their final regular-season game at No. 1 Michigan, 30-24.

Missouri (10-2, 6-2 Southeastern Conference) is making its fourth Cotton Bowl Classic appearance. The Tigers are 2-1 all-time in the Classic, last playing on Jan. 3, 2014, in a 41-31 win over Oklahoma State. Mizzou's last bowl appearance came two years ago, a 24-22 loss to Army in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth. The Tigers are making their 36th overall bowl appearance. Missouri's only losses this season came on Oct. 7 against LSU (49-39) and at Georgia on Nov. 4 (30-21).

"We cannot be more excited to have this Top-10 matchup and welcome Ohio State and Missouri to North Texas for the 88th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic," said Dave Brown, Chair, Cotton Bowl Athletic Association. "Our goal is to provide the student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and alumni an experience befitting of their remarkable season."

"Ohio State and Missouri deserve to be honored for a tremendous season and we have an incredible week of activities planned for the teams when they hit the ground on December 23," said Rick Baker, President/Chief Executive Officer, Cotton Bowl Athletic Association. "We are planning for fans from both schools to come in droves to support these two great teams."

The 88th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic is the 15th to be played at AT&T Stadium. The Classic returns to primetime for the first time since Oklahoma defeated Florida 55-20 in the 85th edition on Dec. 30, 2020.
