RED RAIDERS ARRIVE IN DALLAS; BEGIN WORK FOR 73RD CLASSIC

IRVING – The No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders arrived in Dallas today and immediately began preparations for the 73rd AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic with a 90-minute workout in helmets and shorts under clear skies at Texas Stadium. Texas Tech plays the Ole Miss Rebels on Jan. 2, 2009.
Today was the Red Raiders’ first workout since Tuesday, Dec. 23, prior to breaking for the Christmas holiday. Today’s practice was the Red Raiders’ normal “Sunday” practice. The squad concentrated on individual work with position coaches before running seven-on-seven drills near the end of the workout.

The No. 20 Ole Miss Rebels opened preparations for the 73rd AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic with a two-hour workout at SMU’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
Ole Miss (8-4, 5-3 SEC) moved up its scheduled practice time 30 minutes to avoid the threat of inclement weather. However, the forecast turned to the Rebels’ favor experiencing a sunny session with a moderate breeze on SMU’s home turf. The Rebels practiced in pads and pants in front of a crowd of fans and area high school coaches.

MISSOURI EXPERIENCES COTTON BOWL STADIUM

DALLAS – The No. 7 Missouri Tigers conducted their pre-game walk-through this morning at Cotton Bowl Stadium, their first and only time to set foot on the field before tomorrow’s 72nd AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
In conjunction with the 30-minute walk-through, the Tigers had their team photo taken around the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic logo at midfield.
Mizzou’s second AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic appearance has been highlighted all week by the homecoming of junior quarterback Chase Daniel, a high school legend from nearby Southlake Carroll High School.

DALLAS – The No. 24 Arkansas Razorbacks today conducted a 40-minute “walk-through” at the Cotton Bowl stadium under sunny skies in Dallas. Arkansas (8-4, 4-4 SEC) will square off against the No. 7 Missouri Tigers (11-2, 7-1 Big 12) tomorrow in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. Kickoff is slated for 10:40 a.m. CST.
The Cotton Bowl is known affectionately as “The House that Doak Built” in honor of the 1948 Heisman Trophy winner and SMU legend Doak Walker. This was the first time junior running back Darren McFadden, a two-time winner of the Doak Walker Award given annually to the nation’s top running back, has stepped foot on the historic Cotton Bowl field.

IRVING, TEXAS – The No. 7 Missouri Tigers completed their last practice at Texas Stadium for the 72nd AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic and their New Year’s Day matchup against the No. 24 Arkansas Razorbacks (8-4 overall, 4-4 in the Southeastern Conference).
The Tigers (11-2 overall, 7-1 in the Big 12 Conference) conducted a 90-minute session in light pads and sweats considered to be a “Thursday” practice during their normal game-week preparations.

IRVING, TEXAS – The No. 7 Missouri Tigers held an enthusiastic two-hour workout in pads and sweats at Texas Stadium for their third practice in Dallas for the 72nd AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
“I thought we had a good practice,” said Head Coach Gary Pinkel. “That was about our 87th practice, very close to it, since spring football. So we’ve gotten a lot of practice in.”
The practice session focused on position and situational drills and closed with a Mizzou postseason tradition of a Future Bowl which is a 15-minute scrimmage featuring redshirt players and underclassmen who have not received much playing time during the season.

Under the shadows and cool conditions at Texas Stadium, Mizzou hit the turf 45 minutes earlier than previously announced to accommodate its afternoon schedule. The Tigers held a lively two-hour practice, considered a normal “Tuesday” practice, in full pads with full contact.

IRVING, TEXAS – The No. 7 Missouri Tigers opened preparations for the 72nd AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic with a 75-minute workout in light pads and sweats under chilly, cloudy conditions at Texas Stadium.
Missouri conducted a typical “Sunday” practice on the home field of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Head coach Gary Pinkel said practicing at the historic venue is a special treat for his coaches and players.

The No. 24 Arkansas Razorbacks arrived by private vehicle today into Dallas for the 72nd AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. Arkansas (8-4, 4-4 SEC) will face the No. 7 Missouri Tigers in the Classic on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.
Both teams enjoyed a special welcome from FOX Sports, the Classic’s network partner since 1999. The event included highlight videos of both schools and a performance by comedian Frank Caliendo of “Frank TV” and “FOX Sports Sunday.”
This will be Arkansas’ 11th appearance in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
